Default Tips on which stabilizer to buy?

Hey guys,

Looking at getting some stabilizer.

Th tear away seems the obvious choice..... question is, what are teh advantages to using cut away?

What type of stabilizer should be used for fleece? Should I buy a few types for different applications?

Thanks!

Tear-away should be used for hats, some heavier denims, heavy fleece would be ok. You will definitely need cut away for most everything else like polo shirts,t-shirts etc. Cut away is more stable than the tear away. If you used tear away on a polo shirt, chances are when you tear off the backing the shirt will pucker badly. I have done that before by accident and ruined the shirt.

Agree with statement from Euan above, but check out the following article from Threads - it gives alot of good information on stablizers (backings and toppings). Remember one layer is not always sufficient to produce a quality product. Here's the link --- Making Sense of Stabilizers
