Default Pfaff 2170 - information / comments

My wife and I have a hobby business pressing t-shirts, she would like to start doing embroidery also. Our local Husqvarna dealer has a sale on a Pfaff 7120 for $3,995.00 CDN. Does anyone have any experience or comments on this machine. This is the extent of our budget to add a new piece of equipment. by the time I add the software and some additional hoops We will be up to $5500.00 fortunately the machine comes with free classes.
All comments good and bad will be appreciated
Thanks
Jim & Kathy

Changed my title to the correct model number it should be a 2170
We are planning on using the machine for lettering and small logos

It all depends on what you want to do with it. Are you going to do more than basic lettering and simple designs with very few colors?

I looked at a similar machine a few years ago. Since my car designs have 6-9 colors and are done in 8-15 steps, it would have taken way too long to keep changing threads every time. We ended up going with a Brother PR600 6-color machine instead. For a small shop, it's been a complete workhorse.

Check with the shop if they have a trade-in program... The shop we bought our machines from has a 1 year upgrade trade-in program where they will credit full purchase price of the original machine towards an upgrade. When we were thinking of buying a 2nd machine, we bought a small Babylocke that is similar to the PFaff. We used it for a couple of months for some 1-color lace designs and then decided we really needed another 6-color machine. Much easier trading/upgrading than it would have been to try to sell the used machine and then buy a new upgraded one...
