Default Digitalizing Question

Hello, I have been thinking about buying my embriodary machine soon. I just had a question about digitalizing? Say a customer came to me with an image and wanted it stiched on say a polo shirt. Would i be able to locate someone who digitalizes, email them the pic, pay them their fee and they email it back and im good? I know this is the setup fee involved that you pass along to the customer. Also, i know digitalizing requires certain procedures for certain materials, so would i have to chareg that customer a second set up fee if he wanted that same logo on some hats? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, Im just trying to understand..thanks, Nick

-yes you would be able to just outsource the digitizing.
-it depends how complicated the logo is. if its a basic 1 color logo then you can most likely get away with not digitizing it again. if its a multi color design you probably will have to because of registration problems.

Hi Nick. It would greatly help your future embroidery business if you can also learn how to digitize. With the advent of Corel Drawings, the cost of software have gone down considerably.

Yeah, you can send out your graphics and get back an emb file. You do need to specify the size and what it will go on so it gets done correctly. Just pass the cost plus a few bucks for you on to the customer.

To answer your question about the second fee for hats - Yes, if the logo wasn't digitized center out/ bottom to top. For most items you wouldn't charge a second fee for the same size design because the stitch file would only need a slight adjustment such as additional pull compensation to adjust a design. (e.g. you would need to add pull comp to a design that was originally digitized for nylon that was going to be used for sweats). If you know that there's a chance that the design will be needed for caps then its best to digitize for caps initiallly even though the design may run slower on polos unless you have lots of polos to do.
