Default What would be a "great" machine for hats...

"Embroidery Machine" that is...

baseball style and patches. In terms of ease of use, price, time required to complete a piece (less is more)... etc... doesn't need to be portable but space saving would be a bonus... thanks

I like my SWF 1501C....with the quick change set up for caps.......has made it so I can actually do caps now.....I have 2 other machines, and have never been able to hats before....
Call Bill Richardson at SWFEast and ask on pricing..

The major brands have the quick change assembly for hats. We have an SWF and it is really a snap to make the change over. The bigger issue will really be sewing the hats. You are putting a 3D graphic (the embroidery) on a round surface (the hat) which has a lot of challenges. Also, you may need to install the cap needle plate and change the needles to do caps so just slapping a hat on the machine may be more involved than you think.

It depends on the cap. If we are using a constructed low profile cap then I change the plate. For unconstructed caps and for other non-stiff hats we are ok with the standard plate. I do switch to sharp point titanium coated needles for caps though. 75/11 I think is what we use.

We also slow down to 500spm to keep registration on complicated designs.
