Default getting into the business

Folks,

I am looking to invest in an embrodery machine without limits. I need to do ball caps with todays latest request...the catch...it all needs to be done out of my house. Is the PR 600 II worth the investment?

It looks like it could do the job. But I like the NEO2 from tajima and a matching Pulse DG/ML digitizing software.

Have you looked at the SWF compact?

The quick change unit for hats is wonderful......I own three different brands of embroidery machines, and the SWF by far is my favorite......

Bill Richards at SWF East is a wealth of information, or if you have ??s on the compact model, feel free to email me.

You need to find out when the the Next ISS show is in your area and see some of these stuff in person then you will make the right decision. Hard when you can'[t see and test. Lou

This is listed as a home embroidery machine. If you are doing light volume you might be able to get away with it for a short period of time to establish yourself.

My concerns on this machine would be the sewing field size, the speed, the lifespan of the parts for continuous, daily operation. This machine would be good for taking to shows. It is probably pretty light and you can sew right there.

Personally, You can probably do better with a 6 or 9 needle SWF compact with a quick loading hat frame. The brother is $7K-9K. You can get an SWF Commercial machine for that price.

I would also add that hats are hard to sew on. You are basically putting a flat 3-D image on a round 3-D object.

You can, however, make a lot of money with embroidery. Aside from the machine, the thread and blank hats/shirts are pretty inexpensive and you can sell them for a premium price.

Good Luck.

true.....i personally am not a big fan of swf....my 10yr old barudan can give me same quality as a 6yr old swf....bought 2 swfs about 6 yrs back but went back to barudan after that....now have 8 barudans and 2 swfs.

but again you gotta see the cost factor cos most embroiderers are buying machines from china or korea which are cheaper and if you decide to buy a japanese machine like barudan or tajima it will definitely be more expensive and will take you longer to get your return on it but I feel that the advantage is that a new barudan machine will be hassle free for at least first 5 yrs without any major change in spare parts and quality is good.

but then thats just my opinion...... talk to people and see what they're saying..... workout your costings and see what prices you'll get.....

good luck

In the ten years I was stitching I went through a Melco followed by a Tajima, but happiness arrived when I had the pleasure of running a ZSK. Having worked with some of the best emb machine technicians in the country I had a chance to see - and run hands on - just about everything out there. The ZSK by far was/is the Cadillac of machines in my opinion.

Also, you have to check if you will be comfortable with the kind of service you are goint to get from your supplier. Here, Tajima is the only option since I feel that the local distributor is the only one who can provide good service.

The 6 needle new is $9K. Single Head Embroidery Machines

You are not limited to six colors, you would just have to swap out colors. You can also get used or show machines for less.

commercial embroidery machine, Embroidery, Manufacturing Metalworking items on eBay.com

I have been running two pr 600's for 3-4 yrs now. 5 days a week 6-7 hours a day- I do every thing from light t-shirts to heavy carharts. with Polor fleece and sweatshirts being my main stay. These are commercial machines- I have no problem with them at all.

Since you are new to the business you really need to shop around- 2 most important things to find out are what type of training support are you going to get and the maintainence- If you don't have support and maintaince close by you will spend a fortune getting it and your machines can be down a long time waiting for it
