Question embroidery material

I wan to do a craft that requires embroidering on neoprene. I am thinking that this has to have a special application because of the make up of the neoprene. Is there a way to do such a project? Maybe the back of the neoprene could have a backing ? Any help would be appreciated. If the backing would seem reasonable what kind of material would be the backing? Also how would I apply the backing to the neoprene.? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tom L

Backing shouldn't be a problem, a regular cut away or tear away should work.

Bigger problem would be hooping the garment so it doesn't leave a hoop mark - you'd probably have to use fast frames or something like the ICS clamping system along with a sticky backing.

I wouldn't use high stitch counts - I'm thinking the material itself may tear if you puncture it too many time?

I stitch on neoprene all the time. I use Fast Frames with sticky backing with great success.

Jane, what sort of needle do you use when doing the neoprene.
