Default Oscommerce Help

Hi all...has anyone used oscommerce for their cart on their site? How easy is it to customize or what are its limitations? Oscommerce is provided by my host but I'm nervous that it won't integrate nicely into my site...I want to be able to just have my 6 t-shirts displayed nice and neatly on the page at one time (with the size choice beside each one and an option to add to cart or to go straight to check out) with some graphics on the left hand side of the page...

Will it be possible to integrate oscommerce into my site and get it to look how I want it to look? My big concern is that a customer will get shunted off to some alien looking page (relative to the layout of my site) and may bail on a sale as a result of that...any info? thanks..

I use Oscommerce, and lemme tell you. It's a pain in the butt! However, I purchased a oscommerce integrated ecommerce template and tweaked it from there..

I had a small store set up using oscommerce for a specific client. The third time it got hacked, I took it down... You really need to keep on top of the security patches... I haven't had as many problems with Zen Cart but they all have their issues...

The OS commerce that is usually provided with site hosting is out of date in most case. You should get the most up to date version from OScommerce site and have it installed. For a simple and basic site OSc commerce will work, but the version MS2 can be difficult to change the look and feel of the site.

If you don't have much knowledge of PHP, Mysql style sheets, then you should look at one of the more developed clones like Zen cart.

Monster Templates does have a number of template for OSC, Zen cart, and other OSC clones but I don't remember the cost.
