Default Link from a PR3 T-Shirt Blog

(Note: if this is not allowed, please just let me know and I won't do it again. I have nothing to gain from this, I am just sharing a great resource I found with others who can use it)

So, I haven't been reading here much lately because I have been reading up on SEO and building my websites PR (Google Page Rank) and SERP's (search engine results page). One thing I learned was really effective was getting one way backlinks to my site from a page in my niche with a higher PR. As I just launched a month ago, I was at "No Page Rank" and I just moved to "0".

Anyway, a little bit of research and I found this:
"I am selling a limited number of homepage links on my fashion/apparel website for the flat price of $75 per year. Pricing is as such because of the specific nature of the site which caters to thousands of people in the fashion industry, including large clothing brands/websites and apparel lovers. This opportunity would be great for apparel-related companies, manufacturers, brands, blog owners, fashion-related webmasters, or apparel website owners who are looking for some exposure, while at the same time getting a nice backlink from a site which will continue to grow/expand at a great speed.

Your link will be placed on the Homepage for a full year!

Some stats:

-PR3 link. Link will be placed on HOMEPAGE in navigation sidebar under the phrase "Friends"

-4850 average unique visitors per month and consistently growing

-Clothing/Apparel/fashion/ focused

-Ranked in top 30 t-shirt blogs on net, according to omgtees.com (January 2009 - based on activity, popularity, links, and how early new apparel is featured)

-Alexa currently less than 387,000

-Constantly growing w/ feedburner subscriptions.

-Features news/apparel releases/discounts on a regular basis from popular apparel companies all over the world, including many noted brands.

--Has featured news/press releases from various popular companies, including Bape, New Era, Quiksilver, Threadless, The Hundreds, SEIBEI, Reebok, Puma, and more.

-Updated regularly

-Over a year old with 4,900+ 100% natural backlinks"

Anyway, I checked out his site and after a bit of negotiation, decided to try him out. The guy is stand up. My link was up within 5 minutes of my payment. I am doing it strictly for the backlink, but someone looking for exposure would probably gain a lot more from this than me. If you ar interested in seeing the site, PM me and I will send you the link and the guys contact info (I don't want to plug his site, again just sharing a resource). I'm sure if you tell him to give you the same deal he gave me, you can get it for $50!

Be wary of paying for links like that. It's called link farming and is generally a bad idea. While the site you are listed on may be legit, be very careful about paying to be included in a page of links - it may hurt your page rank more than help it.

I totally appreciate the heads up and actually was pretty vigilant about getting a good link (or at least trying). I am PR0 so I figured a niche one way link from a PR3 page (the homepage, not a link page) would be perfect. I will PM you the link and maybe you can give me your opinion about whether it will hurt?

I checked the link in your PM and it's a very good looking site - definitely not a 'link farm'. I'd agree that it would probably help your page rank. One of the key things to look for is it a page you would stay and read? i.e. does it have real content, and that page certainly does. I'd say that you paid for an ad on a site rather than paying for a link.
