Computer Scientist here...how do you do? Hey,
I'm a computer science graduate who was (and still may) going to get my masters and doctorate. My specialty is programming and inparticular web development. I worked several years doing such programming and web administration. I have decided to start a t-shirt brand, one reason is because I can program a e-commerce site of quality, quickly. Best of all, I can do the system admin stuff and all site maintenance myself.
I have spent alot of free time over the years studying CSS, HTML, style design to go along with my programming, database background.
I was wondering how other small startups do it here. I assume there aren't a lot of computer programmer tshirt owners here...lol.
Do you manage your own sites? Pay someone else to do it?
Has anyone tried to learn to program their own site?
If there are some developers here, I am trying to evaluate right now how I want to set up my sites. I will be testing Django and Python, Ruby on Rails, and Php with PHPFramework, CakePHP, and some other e-commerce tools.
I love the idea of Ruby on Rails and the whole marketing of Web 2.0; and how Rails is the new sexy alternative. Has anyone done their site with Rails?
I love Python as a language and have some good working experience with it already.
However, I think PHP is probably the quickest dirtiest solution at the time.
If anyone is interested with what I find out or my expretise I can would gladly share my experiences.
