Default SSL/Paypal Question
So I'm thinking about rolling with HostGator as a host but I have a question about SSL Certificates. I understand the difference between a shared certificate and having my own certificate from my host.

I am wondering if I even need a certificate from my host at all if I plan to have my transactions go through PayPal? (Both their free service and their $20 per month service)

Does anybody know the deal?

If you use PayPal then you do not need a certificate. The transactions actually go through the PayPal website so the shopping cart portion of your website does not have to be secure - as long as you are not collecting any customer information.

Typically the SSL is used in conjunction with merchant accounts.
