Default Backing Up a Store??

What's the easiest way to backup a store before making changes like adding a mod? I just download everything in the /shop/ directory to my computer, but it takes a long time and is a bunch of files. Is there an easy way to do it?

Thanks,
Rusty

Another question is when I'm trying to FTP the backup down to my computer, it will often stop and I get this message:
Response: 421 Too many connections (8) from this IP

What can I do to resolve this and keep it moving?

Hi Rusty. I don't know of any faster way, but there are some FTP programs that will automatically reconnect if you get booted. That might help some.

With my service provider, I just go to my server control panel and select site backup. Their system will backup my entire site and put it in a .zip file and notify me via email when it is ready to download. I keep track of any changes I make and all orders which pass thru the store, so backups are performed usually once a month.

Mine is the same as Mikes, I have an oscommerce cart that allows me to back it up from my admin panel.

I have an oscommerce site as well. It backs up the site and database everday. In addition to this, I also just make a duplicate of the files I'm working on on my hard drive. Or just backup the entire site on my hard drive.
