Default Need advice on offering "pre-order new design". Has anyone had luck?

Would like to advertise new designs and offer "pre-order" your t-shirt. Does anyone have experence with this concept? And if so what is a good time frame to tell customers when they will be shipped out? Thanks.

What method of printing do you use? All my printing is JIT (Just in Time) because the printing method lends itself that way, which makes selling customised t-shirts very cost effective. Pre-ordering a t-shirt isn't something I see often online, if at all, and could actually put off the person from purchasing.

I think a better way to sell your shirts is to clearly state your lead times and use "buy now" actions instead of "pre order".

i guess *pre-order* could work when you are lauching a design/line on a future date where then it will be available to purchase/ship.

No reason why you can not offer a *pre-order* as you promote and market the design/line during the pre-available purchase/shipping date. Sometimes it may also work itself great in creating hype. Book it now type thing.

hype is right, but its gotta be limited.

no sense in preordering if I can get it a year from now.

its gotta be hot and in low quantity, then youve got hype

yes, hype/promo creates demand.
The more demand the more you will sell.
The longer it is in demand, the better $$$$.

So why limit yourself?

i guess you can call it an original re-issue item after the limited edition runs out.

People want what they cant have. Not to keep talking about mr cupcakes but if his shirts were in walmart or hot topic or whatever, they wouldnt be $70. He has something called a STRATEGY. If he didnt do limited edition designs, would people buy 3 or 5 of the same shirt, nope. Would people drive nine hours, camp out, and wait in a half mile line, nope. They would purchase at thier convience.

Now of course this doesnt work for everyone cause you gotta have hype. If you know your design is hot and its gonna sell fast, people will go crazy for a preorder, especially if its limited. It kind of a mental mind #@*! but it works in many markets.

Marketing is successful when youve created some crazy thoughts inside peoples heads. But if you dont have the branding or the hype, I dont really see a preorder attracting that many people. Maybe throw in some extras if they preorder.

yeah a low quantity and limited editions can help you market and gain hype

Im currently doing that with my shirts

I have 10+ designs already being printed

each design will have 15 shirts - thats it No more reprints or anything once its out its done.

so then I can gain hype plus i can steadily increase price slowly

and gain a market of exclusivity
