Default Adding RSS feed or Blog to store?

Does anyone have experience on adding a blog orr RSS feed to their store? I am interested in adding one of these to my site to help drive traffic to my store, increase ranking, get keyword rich pages etc. Which would be better/easier? I am not very techno savvy - so I am looking for an option I can do with minimal website development experience. Where do I start?

Thanks!

It depends on what kind of shopping cart you are using. Some shopping carts will have the option of adding an RSS feed pretty easy.

But if you are a non-tech savvy user, I think other forms of promotion would be a better way to use your marketing time.

I don't know that an RSS feed would help you out that much.

My website is being redesigned with zencart. Since my marketing budget is presently limited, I have been searching for inexpensive alternatives to promote my store. My t-shirt themes are parenting, retirement and pregnancy. So, I thought a parents blog might be a fun addition. I am researching diurectories to submit to, keywords and seo, however, I have a feeling those avenues are going to bring me limited results. Its such a competitive market! Any suggestions?

You can add a blog by installing Wordpress on your site. Many webhosts have a one click install of wordpress in their control panel.

In my above post I was talking about adding an RSS feed for just your products.

A parents blog might be a good idea to help bring people back to your site.

I think SEO will give you great long term results for your online store. Search engines are how people find things online. If you want them to find you, you need to at least to the basic SEO.

You can also try to establish links/relationships with other parenting related sites/blogs/newsletters.

You should also increase your marketing budget

Thanks. I will check out wordpress and give it a try. Once my new site is up, I am going to try making more links. I do plan to add more to the marketing budget. We kind of tapped it out doing some local advertising, promoting to brick and mortar stores and on-line. I plan to focus on the website for a while and really try to optimize that. Thanks for the tips!

I have a blog that is industry related (Custom Embroidered Apparel hosted on Blogger). I haven't received much web traffic from it but I do get back links to my site. Although these are recipical links (not as important) they are relevant content links. Also, because I post every week it does keep me in the habit of writing about the decorated apparel business so its easier to come up with new material to add to my web. Occasionally I link from my blog to my site but not always. I do believe that hosting your own blog (using wordpress.org) is better SEO wise but I haven't had the time to move.
