Sort of asked the whole question in the title of this post :-) ...

I have a company that's going to dyesub 100 t-shirts for me (this is a first dyesub job any customer of mine has ever asked for.) ... but the company doing this only has pale colors of apparel. My customer is now wanting to know if the same images can be put onto black fleece hoodies.

Do any of you experts know if this can be done?

You can not dye sub on a dark shirt. Sublimation is generally printed out of a desktop printer which has transparent inks. Therefore you need a white or light colored base to be able to see the design.
Most darks are done either screen print, DTG, or heat transfer with dark papers.

Now if someone ever finds a way to lay down a white dye sub underbase that will allow the top colours to be overlaid without migrating, they would make an absolute fortune.

Dye sub is my print method of choice, but its limitation of only printing on pastel colours is also a major limitation on potential sales.
