The bypass tray just arrived. Yipppeee
The only manaul I have is a pdf and I can't find my glasses to read it. (Getting old sucks) booooo.
Anyone setup their GX-7000 to use the by pass tray ?
What things need to be done before I can use it if anything ? RIght now only holding my 8.5x11 paper till the 13x19 comes in.
Mark,
Sorry I can't help with your problem but please give an update on how you like the sublimation setup with the GX7000. I am seriously thinking of switching from my "Epson 4880 sublimation printer to the GX7000. Everyone seems to think it is the answer to desktop sublimation. Although my 4880 prints up to 17" inches wide. I rarely need that width in sublimation so I want to switch it into a regular printer and go your route.
From what I have been reading, you will be saving about half the cost using the new Sublijet R with the GX7000 over my 4880. I spent around $3,600.00 on Sublijet ink this year so the idea of buying the GX7000 full of Sublijet R for the same cost of one set of inks for my 4880 sounds pretty good.

Hey Cory
I haven't done much so far. I have done about 145 Denali wikz shirts. 15 or so Vapor Apparel shirts.
I did a tile I think it was for my sister.
So I can't really talk about the POP yet. The tile I did was a family pic and it did turn out real nice. It did have some POP to it and I was impressed with it. The shirts have been good.
I have been using the sub paper conde sells under the dye trans name also. I have some sample paper coming from Alpha Supply so gonna try that paper too.
I do have a issue with t and printing a navy blue. Part of this may be the setup. I have tried the ICC and the power driver. I finally choose the Powerdriver as it was the closes I got to what I needed.
I don't use the printer daily. Might be seveal days before I print anything and I think a couple time went a week or so with no printing. And it sits underneath my MR. Slim wall a/c unit. I have had no clogging issues. I did get some bands but after the print it happened on I printed again and they were gone.
So far I have been happy and if I could get this blue issue settled I'd do a happy dance. I am not blaming the printer tho. My ignorance is the issue I am sure.
From the sample prints epson has sent me over the years and all not sure that this will come all that way but if the tile I did is it I would live with it with no problems. Does that make sense. Hope so.
Thanks for the quick reply. I have read about the lack of clogging. That's big for me. I have run sublimation on just about every Epson printer on the market up to the 4880 and they have all given me great results but have always left me wanting a machine that would run a little more carefree without clogging. I know sublimation is always going to have clogging issues, I just want the best desktop setup. It seems to be the GX7000.
I have been so close to discontinuing sublimation from my services. But then I get a big job that can only be done with sublimation and where I live there isn't any other sublimation option for at least 100 miles so I get right back on the horse. It's a love hate relationship I have with sublimation and I just want to love!!!
I am hoping the GX7000 is my answer.

Mark, if I remember right all I did was turn the printer off, slide the bypass tray into the back of the printer until it seated good, turn printer back on and poof, all done. Nothing to it.
Cory, I love my 7000. I actually enjoy doing dye sub again. I will not get another epson for dye sub again. It is also quite fast. Like Mark, I do not print every day and have never had to do a head cleaning yet.
but if you post the solution here, the forum acts as 24 hr tech support. If someone needs an answer that is available here at 2am then they can benefit from it.

I am happy to help!
First turn off the printer and attach the bypass tray. Power the printer back on. Press the menu key on the front of the printer once. Hit the down arrow one time to "paper input" and hit enter...this should bring you to "tray paper size" hit enter again...now hit the down arrow once to "bypass tray" hit enter. Select "custom" from the list and hit enter. Select a value of 12.99" for horizontal (hit enter) and 19" for vertical (hit enter)....it will show you the two values that you selected....if correct hit enter...then the menu button. All done!
