Just bought a D120 CISS system and mug press. Think I'm doing pretty well so far but may have a couple of problems that someone could help with.
I use photoshop and I've installed the Rotech ICC Profile. THe possible problem I have though is with the process within photoshop. I've printed several designs etc. but the colours are not very strong on some of them when printed on the paper. Its as though they are duller then what they look like on the screen. Are there things I should do to get it printing better? What quality of print should it be set to, Photo? Paper types etc.?
I print from PS also but use Artainium inks. You can't judge until you press. The colors that appear on the paper bear little relation to finished product.
With the Artainium system..we use PLAIN PAPER setting. I have printed both at 720 and 1440 dpi and the same color profile and gotten excellent color match.
Get some poly fabric and press - to check the color match..don't go by image on paper.
YES- RGB
1) did you install the icc profile in the proper location?
2) have you checked your color in the file w/ the eyedropper to make sure it's 0-0-0.
3) use print with preview and make sure to select your icc profile from the drop down menu.
4) are there lines through the black or just not a good enough black.. like eggplant color?

Hi Leo,
I use Vista 64 Bit so search on Google for installation instructions (Right click, Install). As far as I'm aware its installed ok.
Yes the colours are 0-0-0, and its actually the same if I use a navy blue.
Print with preview and the Rotech ICC Profile is selected.
Black is just not black enough if that makes sense, its as though it is more like a really really dark grey.
When I go file > print in photoshop, if I click page setup to get the printer settings up, then advanced, Under the Colour Controls, there is EPSON Vivid or Adobe RGB. Should there not be the Rotech one there aswell?
..not black enough on the paper or on substrate? It's said that black is the last color to sublimate... so try extending the time a bit and make SURE your temp is up to 400*.
What items are you sublimating?
With Artainium... I used to get an eggplant black...until I got the icc profile corrected.
** the rotech profile does appear in the printer space drop down menu ?
** I'm puzzled as to WHY dark blue would appear as 0-0-0 as well.. should not.

Leo,
If I go file > print in photoshop, the Rotech ICC profile is there, but not if I click page setup > advanced > colour control (i dont think this is a problem though actually).
No Navy Blue is also eggplant for some reason, the final print on the paper looks a little eggplant aswell, and also when its transfered onto the mugs. I have the temp settings on my press at 200 celsius (392 degrees fahrenheit) and press it for 150 seconds.
you might get help reading this: starting at page 32.
even though this is not your ink brand.
Also go to printers and faxes and under PROPERTIES/COLOR MANAGEMENT... make sure that your Rotech profile is listed there as default.
Your ink supplier should have given you complete installation directions.
Sorry... that's all I can think of... I use earlier PS version and an Epson 3000... so our setting are different but the concept should be similar.
