Anyone have any experience with iSys 44 inch printer. We use Epson 9880 but really need a new printer that goes way faster. Any ideas? I just know the Epson. We print shirts done with sublimation - used to be order of 40 at a time that our 9880 could handle but with bigger orders we need a lightening fast printer. I have heard the iSys would be faster and is around 10K. Any other ideas? We could go a bit higher on price but would like inks to be compatible with our Epson. Any help appreciated! Thanks.
Sublimation inks are sublimation inks. Profiles also have a lot to do with speed. We use Epson 98XX printes as well and print 4 times faster then a competitor does simply because of the profile they use. The vast majority of dye sub printers use Epson print heads.
Thank God i see people talking about the Epson 9880. I am looking at purchasing the Epson Stylus Pro 9880 for sublimation. May i know where i could a CISS for this model? How much does it cost?
Do you think the 7880 is also a good option aside from the 9880? Thanks guys.
Buy the largest printer you can afford to buy - period. So many people regret not gettig a larger printer - it is the biggest mistake one can make as it limits your offerings. Wide format Epsons do not use CIS - thank goodness, they use refillable cartridges. We have Epson 9800 and bought them when the 9880 first hit the market. I can not remember but there was a very specific advantage of the 9800 over the 9880 due to something Epson did with the chips. If I recall correctly you can not tell which cartridge is running out of ink on the 9880 wheras the 9800 tells you which cartridge is low. Being that most refillable cartridges I have seen are clear this should not be a huge issue if you pay attention. I would strongly suggest you also get your refillable cartridges from a reputable source like Johnson Plastics vesus buying overseas.
Mark, what do you think of the Epson 7880? I am also considering this due to the price difference. I think they almost have the same capability. Thanks
The 7800 series is only 24" whereas the 9880 is 44" - huge difference. In both cases you will be able to purchase ink by the liter which will drop your ink cost big time - more then you can imagine. I guess the other question you have to ask yourself is what is the end product you are going to produce and what size press can you afford to purchase makes a big difference on what printer is best for you.
Mutho's are always going to be faster the n an Epson. We have found the Epsons to be bullet proof and just never go off-line. ICC profiles makes a big difference. We can print 5+ long sleeve jerseys at hour using a profile provided by Johnson Plastics. We have a friendly competitor that also has an Epson 9800 and they take an hour to print a single jersey. Everything is the same but the profile.
Whoa, an hour for one jersey? I use the Evolution RIP and found it to be excellent. Large photographs are time consuming - this is when I noticed the speed factor and wished it was a bit faster!
If you are printing transfers for hard goods, stick with the Epson. For fabrics the 98xx Epson's should be able to print at 720x360 and kick out quite bit bit of paper as Mark has mentioned. Not sure how fast ours actually runs...seems like it takes approx. 12-14 hours to go through a roll of paper.
