hello!
I am new to this forum and would like to thank everybody for this wonderfull contribution.
I am located in eastern europe and I cant afford expensive ink so I bought sublimation ink from China. It works fine exept that when I print black and after transfer is dark green. I use epson c120. is there any way to calibrate my profile so that black is black. I am sure someone has been in the same situation before.
I contacted the ink company and they said they dont have icc profile. Should I play myself with calibration until is solved or there exist such a formula before hand?
any comments will be greatly appreciated
thanks
Cheaper, lesser known brand names in sublimation ink, usually print ok using the standard printer profile. It's normally only the blues that present problems, often having a purple tinge to them, which can easily be rectified by toning down the magenta in the printer driver.
Try decreasing the gamma setting in your colour management, or increasing the resolution by choosing 'best photo' option and see what that does to the black output.
Yeah, make sure you have your print settings correct. I noticed that I switched the paper type to photo paper glossy, it gives me a much better print. Also, choose the "photo print" for better quality which helps too.
I am currently been playing around with the same thing but am using a different ink. I've got it pretty much down with the colors pressing ok, my only problem is sometimes it is really crisp and other times it seems like the image is cloudy/hazy. I've started messing with different pressure settings on my press and may start trying different amounts of time during a press cycle.
I have also tried a few different transfer papers. I got the basic sublimation transfer paper and a high release sublimation paper which was much more and can only tell a small difference between prints.
Your ICC Profile settings I notice can make a difference too, I've been testing back and forth between letting the printer choose the color profiles or having Photoshop (my preferred software for design) print profile choose colors. So far when I let the printer choose the colors it seems to come out the best, most vivid colors. Still trying to tweek the settings on using photoshop color profiles.
I am currently using an Epson 1400 printer and have had no problems with any clogging, nothing. I am using Jaguar ink with a CISS system and using the same refill ink when I get low. Been printing t-shirts mainly. Also do dj slipmats, and started getting into tile which is really turning out nice!!
Still kinda a newbie but things are really coming along well.
Hope this helps.....I can appreciate the info from others and I love to be able to share with others to help them get started just as I did. Good luck on your venture!!
