Default Need to generate black transfers quickly...

Hello...I'm working on solving an issue and though I would run it by the fine folks here at the same time.

While I have a shirt printing business, I also work part-time for a manufacturing company that makes other textile products.

We apply a small (about 5x5) custom logo transfer to a large piece of 100% polyester twill material. We use 13x18(?) transfer paper and put six logos on a sheet, spaced appropriately. We then heat transfer (Stahls machine) the sheet with six logos to the material, stack the material pieces, and then cut the material apart into the individual pieces. All logos are black only. The only real issue we have with the entire process is a hit-and-miss inkjet printer.

I purchased a refurbished Epson 1280 and Sawgrass bulk system several years ago and have had nothing but fits keeping the ink flowing. The printer may sit for several days between printing which doesn't help, but to get the thing going we have to do multiple cleanings and often several power primes. The printer has finally bitten the dust - red light is on all the time and no reset, SSC reset, new carts, etc will make it go out. I have a used 1280 on the way, but won't get it until middle of next week.

Here's the problem - I have to ship an order on Tuesday and need black transfers. Doesn't have to be the six-up sheet, could do four or two - or even singles - just to get through this bump. Only need about 48 logos total. So...is there another inexpensive method I could use to generate small runs of black-only logos (and keep for a backup system in emergencies like this)? Would need to have it all in the factory and printing by Monday a.m.

Was thinking of a smaller personal epson printer and a black cartridge? Looking for inexpensive solution that doesn't involve a bunch of next-day shipping charges. Located in OH.

Thanks for reading!!
