Who out there sells just sublimation shirt and no other type of printed shirts
Hi:
who out there sells just sublimation shirts and no other kind of printed shirts. I'm kinda looking at no longer doing any printing but sublimation and would like to know if someone already doe's this I also do embroidery, I want to keep that going but maybe get rid of transfers I buy from other vendors the inventory is just getting out of hand. I have 600 different transfer designs in the store and it's to much and most of the customers are wanting everything personalized.

We only do dye sublimation work - most of it cut and sew. We do do some premade t-shirts but that is speficially for existing clients. What we found is that the t-shirt market is crowded. For very little money and a small space in ones spare room anyone with some time, patience can create simple logo'd/graphic shirts. The market is also drying up on these shirts as full coverage shirts have become the norm now. Cost to do a full coverage front and back custom cut and sew is only a few dollars more then taking a premade shirt and pressing two sides. The results are much more professional as well.

I do sublimation t-shirts in full colour, but there are two major restrictions. The main problem is that people tend to have a preference for one hundred cotton t-shirts. Sure you can get sublimation tees with the feel of cotton, but they are expensive compared to regular cotton tees and you still have to describe them as synthetic, or polyester to stay on the right side of trading laws. The second problem is that sublimation tees are restricted to white, or very light pastel colours. This can be a severe limitation in the range of products you can realistically offer. I myself have to offer vinyl designs onto darker tees to overcome this obstacle.
Mark is totally right about the t-shirt market being flooded. Unless you have some very select and original designs, a flair for marketing and even some good luck thrown in along the way, making a living from tees is not always that easy an option.

I just heard of a black dye sublimation shirt. Yes black! You can see by my site I have been doing sublimation for many years and I know how it works and what it works on, that it has to be white or light and yes polyester, but this is from a very reliable source, who knows the business. I ordered some samples to try and will fill you in. It may be a good source to use if you prefer to switch to sublimation only. We have been using a sublimatable flock and satin material that we print/cut and heat press to cotton but it is very expensive and would like to print on these black shirts.

do you have someone send you the panels that you sub then send back to be sewn or do you decontruct and recontruct the shirt yourself??? if you sub panel then send them back to get put back together can you pm me a contact???

We do evertything in-house. We receive our bulk fabric in 60-66" rolls. We print, press, cut out pieces and then sew together.

I moved to sublimation printing only because of the quality is waaaaaay better than transfers. It cost me a bit to learn about transfers vs. sublimation.
Only downfall is printing on whites and lights only. I am very interested in hearing about sublimation to black shirts as someone was saying above!!! Fill me in, I am very interested!
Overall, the quality is way better. I am doing my own custom shirts with my own designs and for clients. Quality is what was most important to me but the hard part about sublimation is the price. Shirts are quite a bit more for blanks and the ink for sublimation printing is very expensive...(IMO). The quality is better than screenprinting.....again....IMO.

It would be interesting to see how it is possible to sublimate onto a black t-shirt?
Sublimation ink is essentially a dye that alters the colour of the fabric itself. All the other printing processes, dtg, inkjet transfers and screen print need a whire underbase to allow the lighter colours to show up on dark tees. I myself have tried printing up colour swatches on mid range colour polyester tees and many colours literally become invisible against a darker background. I have also tried sublimating new ink colours on top of existing ink colours within a test garment, with some very indifferent results. With black fabric, my guess is that virtually all the colours would be invisible as such?

^ exactly my thoughts. where did sid go? i'm dying to know more about these black shirts for sublimation. or at the least you could tell us where you heard about them from and where we can get our hands on some samples so we can try them out. cmon sid don't leave us hanging.
