Default Washed out look to colours

Hi All,

Thought I would just see if anyone can help. I'm pretty new to dye-sub printing and am encountering several problems. I'll list my setup and the problems I'm having to see if anyone has any possible solutions.

Epson 1400 with ciss system and Lyson ink.
Combination heatpress, manufacturer Joys

When I press my mugs the results vary, I used the recommended settings of 180c at 3 mins and the images were burnt out and even had element marks on them. I have reduced the time down to 90 secs and wrap the mug in a teflon sheet. Some mugs come out fine some come out faded.

I have tried several settings for pressing T-shirts, at 180c for 40 secs, medium pressure the image is faded and the tshirt is scorched brown even using a teflon sheet, I have reduced the time and increased the pressure and the result is the same, bland, faded images and brown scorching. Can anyone give me any help?

Cheers Steve

you might want to check the temp of your heat press, lots of times the temp reading is off. they have digital temp gun to check it.

sublimation needs to be done at 210 c to get the inks to work. on shirt I only close the press to hold the shirt snug also you need to use shirt with 100% poyester to get bright colors.
