I need the whole 411 on dye sub. I heard you can't use it on 100% cotton shirts or you need a special paper for that. And after transfering the dye sub do you get that extra clear stuff like you do on inkjet transfers?

No clear stuff the ink turns into a gas and goes into the fibers. Polyester shirts.Mugs, tags,Plates and everything else has to have a coating on it to except the ink. read the link to the left of the page near the bottom.Dye Sublimation Info

You can only sublimate to 100% poly. shirts. There is an exception ...however....you may hear of someone sublimating to 50/50 ploy/cotton blend shirt. If so...you need to double check the specifics of the shirt. Conde sells a 50/50 blend shirt for sublimation....the shirt is poly on the OUTSIDE and cotton on the INSIDE. My mother loves these shirts...they are extremely comfortable.

You will need sublimation inks and a printer designed to use sublimation inks(ArTainium or Sublijet inks)....there are several Epson printers that can be setup for sublimation use. For someone just starting out the Epson C120 and 1400 are good printers. You will also need sublimation paper. There are 3 different types of sublimation paper. Determining which paper to use ia guided by what substrates you will be using....i.e. tiles, shirts, cutting boards, key chains.

I know I just cover the basics. Please feel free to contact me directly...I will be more than happy to help.
