Hi, I’m in the market to buy a sublimation printer, to do designs in full color- on t-shirts, and maybe hats, I found a Epson 1400 in the net for $1400, also I found the same or seems to do the same on eBay for $600, I’m very new at this, no wait let me rephrase that again
_ I don’t know anything about this_
I have the heat transfer machine 15”X15” and the hat attachment. But never used it before.
So I was wondering if anyone can lead me to the right direction on how to go about buying a printer that will work with the sublimation printing.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
_or maybe you wanna sale your old one?_
I don’t wanna buy it and get stuck with something that wont work for me.
Any hints.
Thank you in advance.
Since you want to do sublimation I assume you know that dye sub is only for white/some pastel colors. having said that the 1400 is a good unit. I use it with Artainium inks but for one just starting, I would recommend using sublijet...easier to set up the ICC profile..But the $1400 is a bit iffy...does that include CIS and FULL bags of dye sub ink...If so the price is in the ball park, but I would never by a printer for dye sub off the net..Go to our vendors or some known source for this so you will have the benefits of full tech support...because at some point you will need it..
The 1400 alone is under $300 now so you can add in the cost of the CIS and inks
The Epson 1400 is a good printer for someone just starting out . I would advise against buy a used printer.......mainly for warranty purposes. The C88 is no longer sold it has been replaced by the C120...which is not a bad printer. If economical, I would go with the 1400 and not the C120...mainly because the C120 will only allow you to print on 8.5" x 11" paper. The 1400 allows you to print up to 13 x 19 paper.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions. I will be happy to help.

Its true that Epson has replaced the C88 with the new C120. Making the C88 A great value right now. Many web sites still offer the C88. Fact I just bought another last week from Newegg.com. But as Sonya said The 1400 the way to go. Not only is the paper bigger but, you can print on CDs.Witch I think is way cool.
