Default I have hte correct Icc Profile, but my black is still very weak.

I have recently switched from Sublijet ink to Artanium inks. This was for 2 reasons, one to save money, and 2 becasue I could never get proper gradients out of the Sublijet inks. greens would turn purple, blacks would have streaks of green and blue in them etc.

Now that I have switched, just doing a test run atm, my graidents are smooth and without banding, but my black is horrible. I installed the icc profiles and have done many many test prints and cleanings, but I still seem to get a slightly brownish, slightly blueish light black.

So I guess I have two questions:

Are the Artanium inks ever going to produce as good of a black as the sublijet?

If not, Is there some sort of secret to making the sublijet inks behave themselfs In reguard to black gradients?

I haven't had any problems with my black other than it seems to be the first to start clogging when it gets too hot here. Please provide a few more details about your setup so that myself and others can possibly find a way to better the quality. Application that you're using to print along with its settings and type of printer would help.

I use a C88 with Artainium and Corel 13 in CMYK mode and haven't had any real issues. I have done grey to black gradients before without a problem, but unsure what colors you are using for your gradient.

I am using a epson 4800 with artainium ink. I am printing from Corel13 using the icc profiles provided by my ink suppliers. And the color mangament settings they suggested. All my colors are rgb. I am printing with rgb 0/0/0. At the moment I am atempting to print a black to white gradient.

What is your corel color management settings? That can make all the differences in the world. Have you tried printing a color chart and if so, do all the other colors look correct? I would imagine they would not if you are not getting a good black. I would have the distributor walk you through what the Corel Color Management should be set to. Just my opinion.

The Artainium black is not quite as dark as the Sublijet black.

Mark

The color management settings are the ones suggested by my distributor.

I have printed various color charts And all the colors seem fine. I will have to find new matches to my standard color pallette, becasue before the switch I was using an different icc profile, but I expected this.

I think with my current settings, I could find matches to my standard pallette, all except for the black (and by extention, the greys)

Could it be that i have aquired a black, light black, or light light black cartrage that are "duds"?

The Artainium black ink is not as dark of a black as Sublijet. We sell both Artainium and Sublijet inks. If you like, I would be happy to print your image with both inks to confirm this for you.
