Just found out that my military husband may be transfered to Japan for 3 years. I have a epson 4800 with hybrid (sublimation/multink W/multirip software) setup. I would like to take my home business over there with us since our main business has always been providing personalized items for the command and I'm sure I would have the same business demand there. Here's the problem: that darn printer is hugh!!! and my living space will be very limited over there. Plus PCS shipments of household goods takes 60-90 days. Should I try to sell this system-less than a year old and go with something smaller and more portable? Plus with a new system I could install the inks after the transit to eliminate clogging issues. I like my system, but it is more than I find that I really need. I also don't do that much heat transfer. I have some other equipment to take: roland cutter, 16x20 heat press, hat press, small convection oven for mugs, etc. The other stuff is definitely going. I'm just not sure about this monster printer. Any advice would be appreciated. If I did ship the 4800, how should I package it for a 60-90 day transit? Remove the inks?

Re: Moving to Japan. Need advice on moving equipment
One bit of advice - The 4800 is bullet proof when it comes to sublimation. Very seldom if ever cloggs, etc. If you drop down to a smaller printer and start having to deal with "bulk systems" you will quickly regret your decision.

Have you condsidered selling it and getting all new stuff there that will be compatable with the products that you will have to purchase there,, You might find some totally awesome products there,, Just a thought
