Default R1800 Printer Problem?

Hi All,

Just started getting problems with continuous paper jams. It happened a couple of times and corrected itself but is now constantly jamming. The strange part is that it is fine with the Epson Driver. The Driver we use for our sublimation system is Powerdriver Lite as we use Sublijet IQ. This software is direct from Sawgrass and not a dodgy copy. It has also worked fine up until now.

Anyone with any thoughts on this? Would it be a printer or software problem. I automatically think it is software but nothing changed and we have also done a complete reinstall. Is there anyway it could be the printer?

We have just recently spent over a week down with other problems, so this happening on the run up to Xmas is a nightmare.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrew

Uninstall the PowerDriver and then reinstall it. You might have had an update on your operating system that could have affected the driver. That should resolve it.

Tried the uninstall procedure and removed all traces of Powerdriver software before putting on the new version. Running out of ideas now.

When we were using cut sheets for dye sub we always had an issue with the ends curling causing all sorts of issues feeding or lack there of. I think most people who dye sub on the smaller Epsons have experienced significant issues especially with bulk ink systems. The time and money wasted is way better spent getting a Epson 4800. Many factory refurbed ones out there that are pretty inexpensive.

I plan to go wide format after Xmas due to the ink costs, just need to get through the next couple of months as we are very busy. I priced ink on the 4800 and it is even more expensive than my current ink.

What paper are you using? Before putting the paper into paper tray......roll paper in the opposite direction to make sure paper is not curled. If rolling paper does not eliminate curling, you can place up on heat press...swing the lid around(do not close)leave on press for about 20 sec...then place in printer. Since we have reached that time of the year .....where tempuratures have dropped and heaters are being used....I do recommend keeping a weighted item on top of the sublimation paper ....as a means of preventing the paper from curling.

I generally use Epson Matte photo papaer 102gsm A4 and have done so for the past few years. Tried all the other stuff and nothing I find to gain me better results. The strange thing is that the same paper and same file to be printed will go through when printing directly from the Epson driver. Tried everything, even a new PC and know the software works fine for other people, as it has done for me for the past 18 months. I have hust picked up a second hand 4000 and a 9600 to get me by for now.

Thanks for your help.

Andrew

I've just experience the same problem - brought new paper and it sorted it (from Xpres) no I got no Cyan ink coming through done everything all but throw it out the loft hole. Never had much success with bulk in systems, this is my third in 3 years, looking at going large format next year with the large capacity cartridge section. If you ar thinking of buying too, get in touch we might be able to get some discount if we get two at same time.
