D92 printer - can i buy any ciss or does i have to be a special type for the sub dye
hello, i am new to this forum, and also new to sub dye. I have a D92 and iam going to purchase a ciss for it, to use sub dye inks. Now can i buy any ciss or does i have to be a special type for the sub dye.

Hi Carol. You can get a CIS for the D92 that will work with dye sub inks. Takes a bit of setting up though, as the lines easily jam within the narrrow confines of the casing. My other Epson prnters do not suffer from this.
Getting a colour profile for this model may be a little more difficult, as only the older model D88 seems to be supported. I had to use specialist software to get the colours to come out just right.
Although you are probably aware of the situation, Sawgrass controls the market for sublimation inks, so they will cost you several times more than the printer and CIS put together. Painful but true!

Thanks for your reply, so i have to buy a speacial type of ciss that will take dye sublimation ink, is that what you are saying. I had a D88 which has just broken on me, which is a drag as i cannot get my hands on one anymore in the uk. what softwear did you use to get colour profiles, i have been told that the D92 prints out brilliantly. Huh we will see.

To be brutally honest, a CISS is very simply some transparent plastic bottles attached to empty printer cartridges by silicon tubing. I have used CISS with conventional dye, pigment and dye sub inks and never had any problems.
A lot of people out there (usually sellers) will indicate you need special this and special that, but that is seldom the case. Epson themselves will give the whole idea of CISS systems a bad name, even though hundreds of people on here, use them everyday.

i would not make big hopes with d92,and sincerlly if U didn't bought the CiSS maybe is better if you just think about buying a little bit better(and expensive) printer.
I'm saying this because me and some of my clients had problems with the speed of this printer and depending on the actual number of copies which U want to print for expl. in a month maybe is better to purchase a bigger or faster one.and brilliant colors....let's just say "good colors"
