I just purchased an epson 1280 from a person on craigslist for $75. They told me the printer worked fine last time they used it and I trusted them. Im not sure if something is wrong with the printer or maybe I dont have it set up properly. I plugged it into my dell notebook and the device drivers installed automatically. I then tried printing without changing anything and the printer printed in pink and blue only. I figured maybe the ink cartridge was no good so I installed my CIS system that I purchased from ebay and then the printer only printed in yellow and black. so I took the cis out downloaded the epson printer driver from the epson website re installed the CIS ink cartridge and now Im back to pink and blue hues. Whats wrong with my printer? am I doing something wrong or did someone sell me a piece of junk?

Sounds like you may need to do a series of head cleaning cycles. You will probably need to do a few if it is bad clogged. I used to run 4 Epson 1280's simultaneously. I know them almost inside and out. They can be tricky at times but they are very good machines.
