Hello everyone. So I did a lot of searching on the boards and found JetCol seems to be the sublimation paper I'm looking for, but can't find anyone that sells it. Does anyone know of any vendors that sell a quality high release paper? I'm subbing on polyester- color and detail are important. I'm looking for a 17" width paper, preferable rolled.
And just for a little history, I've been using true-pix and found a lot of the ink doesn't transfer.
Hi Gary, thanks for the tip. I didn't see the particular size I needed, so I shot them off an email. Fingers crossed.
In the meantime, I found some TexPrint XP which is supposed to be their new line of high release paper.

Get a sample to test of the JetCol before you buy it. I have tried to run that paper in the past and had issues with ink loading /puddling on the paper. I think you have to cut back on your ink limiting / density, if possible.

Hi Mark. Unfortunately no 17" rolls for me.
Even the 17"x22" paper is too small.
So if I want to use it, I need to cut the rolls down or buy a bigger printer lol.
JetCol is THE paper for maximum release. What are you transferring to?
Many sizes available. Special handling is required. I dry the paper by placing
it under the heat press without closing the press for 30 seconds. I use it mainly
on glass and fabrics. What printer do you have and what inks?
try JetTran from US Sublimation, the release is excellent and I think they carry 17" x 250' rolls... I use the 44" rolls of their heavier grade and just recently tried the sticky one with very good results.
Mike- Yes that is on my list to try, thank you for the input! I did notice a lot of these papers have different weights and not really sure why. Ink saturation?
David- Hi, I use a 4880 with Artainium ink. I believe I called the Conde site and there were no 17" widths available. I press onto poly. I started with truepix paper which is nice, but a good deal of the ink never leaves the paper. I do believe my temp, pressure, time, etc are all correct.
Again, I appreciate everyone's input and I have several good leads.
You are correct, it's a saturation issue mainly. The high release papers are coated so that the ink stays on the surface rather than being absorbed in to the paper, this promotes the release of the color so most of it transfers and very little stays on the paper. Unfortunatelly a result of this is that if you don't have the right profile you usually end up with paper that is soaked, doesnt dry and images that are over saturated. The main reason for the different weights is cost: the lighter papers are cheaper so most people try to use the thinnest paper that works with their process. If you are using profiles for tupix you will need to use the heaviest grades (around 130-140gsm) because as you have noticed trupix holds a lot of the ink therefore the profiles compensate by laying down a lot of ink to achieve some saturation of color; if you have a high release profile usually 100gsm works well. Many people doing fashion t's that are 70/30 poly cotton blends use the 70-75 gsm papers with very low ink loads so that the color doesnt pass through the shirts. Most high release papers will give you the same results and a profile for one will work with the others with very little variation in color reproduction (although if you compare there will always be some variation of color). Beaver Paper also has a high release coating and offers small size rolls.
