What style of heat press, do most of you use for sublimation? I own a 15x15 Mighty press, clam style. I'm wanting to start subbing. I've read so much info on styles of presses. Worried about ghosting, with a clam style. I know heat resistant tape will work, but how well?
Thanks, Mike
hi mike - a lot of people who do sublimation have clam shell type presses - i have a swinger, but my best friend uses a clam shell with no trouble. heat tape works well as does the adhesive spray Product Detail - DyeTrans.com

To add to what Jan says.....I have been doing sublimation for over 7 years....the process does not care what type of press...I have used both kinds, clam and swing away...the only things you need are...good equal pressure, consistent heat and correct time
Good advice...I have used a Swing Away press since I started only a couple of years ago. It doesn't really matter though, as long as the image is positioned and properly secured it won't ghost with you.
Heat tape is great! Use it on all my subbing to apparel. I use ProSpray on other substrates when it calls for it.
I have a new small 9x12 swing away press, and I have NO idea how to line up tee shirts !!!
I used to have a big 15x15 press, no problem but this one is crazy, are there tips somewhere?
The thing bunches everything up by that big pole up top...any advice?? (other than buy another big press, noo $$ for that right now)...
Thanks!
I use a clamshell as well for sublimation.
They only thing I have been told is if I do plates I will want a swing away for that type of item but the other stuff we have never had a problem with.
If you don't have a tsquareit....line up the label in the center...using the center post...then use a ruler to get to the spot you want...and press that is what I did with that size press many years ago

Hi Charles,
I actually DO have a "TSquareIt" on order
Thanks so much!

I have been using a Hix 15" clamshell for 7 to 8 years now for sublimation & heat transfer.
I have the press with the floating platen which makes it easier when doing thick items like plaques.
