Default Which ink system?

I have been reading the complaints about bulk ink systems for the 1400 and 1800. There is also the option of purchasing refillable cartridges and then refilling them with the artainium inks. Would this be a better option and less troublesome?

Hi,

I've been using the refillable carts with my C88's for a few years now & it works great. I just buy the Art. ink in bulk bottles. When you need to refill a cart. you just flip out the plug on top, fill up the syringe with the ink and insert it into the cart. without even taking it out of the printer. I can't remember the last time I had an ink clog.
I've heard of some having probs with the bulk systems + the extra cost too.
It's worth a try for you as the cost to get them is not that great.

If you are only going to run one set of inks (not a hybrid), then I think the 1400 is the way to go. It is faster, a cheaper printer (MSRP vs MSRP) and you only need to get 6 colors of ink (versus 8 colors with the R1800). I don't think your customer is going to be upset with the output of a 6-color printer versus an 8-color if all the settings are the same. So, my opinion is the 1400 is best choice. Good luck with your decision.

We had a bulk system for the R1800 and it was a disaster. Ended up scrapping it and going to R1400. In my experience the key is getting a CIS where the cartridges actually snap into place just like the standard cartridges do. Seems like that would be a standard but it is not on the R1800 model. The R1400 CIS system has cartridges that snap into place and if needed the ability to prime without taking the cartridges out.
