If I by a epson c88, can I use it straight out of the box? Does this printer come with pigment ink? If I use it straight out of the box and later want to change to a different brand of ink?
There's another thread on here that talks about the durabrite? ink. I think that's the name. I can't remember what it recommends. I got mine to use for sublimation so I had to buy separate cartridges. I'll see if I can't find that thread.

Yep..works right out of the box with the Durabrite ink! You can get sublimation ink carts or bulk system if you need to do dye sub. There are also 3rd party ink upgrades that are supposed to be better than the Durabrite (haven't gone that route yet myself) when you get to that point.
Good luck!

Out of the box, you may have to double check the print head alignment. Mine was way off on 2 Epson's. Printed nice afterward. Once you get going along, if you use the EOM carts, you may notice the colors look off. It's typical to have to pull yellow way back. Some common settings are C +5, M +5, and Y -15, tho you'll have to work that to detail for yourself.
I notice with different heat transfer paper, I will have to make further adjustments for depth in the image. Ironall dark and Jetprosofstretch suck up the black, so I have to adjust for contrast and bright to get a vibrant image. Saturation is the least toyed with adjustment. Oversaturating the paper is for the most part, a waste of ink, but I have had to use it on certain designs.
Paper setting for heat transfer paper: Paper/Bright white setting, I use photo quality. Gamma 2.2. Good luck to you. If you use something besides the durabright ink, will you update the posts with other setting you found work for your ink? Thanks alot!
Melissa, Angelic Endeavors, has just moved over to 3rd party refill carts, she loves them. The Durabrite black color gave her a hard time, turning olive. She loves the new inks and posted a thread on it, called something like Durabrite - you're fired. It should be easy to find if you want to know more. I have no issue with my Durabrite ink.
