Default c88 or 1400

Here's my problem, I want to get sublimation, but I dont know which printer to put it on . my first plan was to get 2 , 1400's , but then I saw the Roland showcase it's talent in Josh's video. So, which one should I use for sub-dye?. How reliable will the c88 hold up ? One week ago i was convinced until I seen the roland in action. Does anyone have some pics of work done on the c88?

I would not hang my hat on the C88+. That printer is being replace/has been replaced by the c120...as of now I am not aware of sublimation setup for it, but I am told it will be out shortly. I use the 1400 and very happy with it

Don't understand your comment about the Roland and Josh..Wasn't that vinyl and not sublimation? Am I missing somethin?

Not sure will be of value..A pic of a shirt using the C88 with dye sub will look the same as a pic of shirt with a good transfer The advantage of dye sub is the washability, the colors and the lack of hand

Thanks alot for that info, you made my decision much easier. The josh thing, I had no idea about a plotter/cutter until i seen his video. I was so impressed, I changed everything that I was going to buy for my initial set-up. It was really just a thought during the time I was writing.

Is there a transfer paper that i could use for dye-sub, and then cut it with the roland?

If you are doing dye-sub there is no need to cut the transfer paper as the image is all that transfers - there is not a polymer window to trim off like on inkjet transfers......

Melanie is correct...with sublimation there is no need to trim but the one thing to remember...with sublimation you can only do white/ash and some pastels..no dark colors like black, red, blue...all those things..the pastels can be obtained from most any vendor that has vapor apparel.

Coastal has some paper that you print on (non mirror as you do in dye sub) and then using cut studio that comes with the Roland you can then contour cut on the roland using the optic eye
