Has anyone gotten the CIS system and ink from smily ink. I am starting to dab in making our softball shirts. I thought it sounds like a good beginner price and amount that won't break the bank. Is the ink good for sub and the system also?????? Has anyone tried it.
Do you have a link to their website? If its not Sawgrass, Artanium or Texas Original Graphics ink ( for now ) then I would be concerned about them being around in the future. It seems everytime a company comes offering ink they get shut down by Sawgrass and I do not know about your business, but my business can't afford to be searching for ink all the time and changing the profiles on my computer and hoping the artwork looks like it used to with the old profiles.
Kris is right...like it or not there are only 3 reasonably reliable source for dye sub ink...two are from the same..Sawgrass and Artanium. Texas Original Graphics are still alive and kicking in their court action against Sawgrass. Smily Ink does not show up on a google nor under any sublimation ink source. Can you give us a link or how you heard of them?
It doesn't appear that their ink is Sublimation Ink... the CIS looks like most others on the market if you want to go the CIS route. If your interested in Sublimation, you may want to find a supplier that will package the ink and CIS system together and see if you can get a good deal on it. Personally, I went with refillable spongeless cartridges... CIS systems were too much of a pain for me, but perhaps they have improved over the last 2 years.
I just talked with smily ink. They no longer sell dye sub. They are in MN and sell just the system and then regular dye ink...Sawgrass frightened them out with the lawsuit filed
Yes, that is how sawgrass operates. As I mentioned before, knowing that Sawgrass has this "patent", I would be very cautious of any other ink supplier since I don't think they would be around long. There have been companies that have come on the internet in the last year claiming that Sawgrass patents don't affect them, but those companies are gone now.
What type of ink is it??? It states able to be used on Cotton??? What type of ink is this? Where did you get your spongless cartridges?
I believe it is just regular printer ink. It can be used on cotton with transfer paper, but so can just about any other ink. If you are interested in spongeless cartridges, you can get them at a few different websites. I got my sets at Spongeless Cartridges
I have no kind words for sawgrass,,, won't do business with a company like that ,,,sorry,,, TG gets my business,, the way I figure it the more I buy the more they can stand up to the bully on the block,,,

Was wondering how you like the spongeless cartridges? I also did not like the CIS system with my 1280 and thus have been spending extra money for the cartridges. Being able to refill them sounds great.
