Help! artanium inks - blacks don't come out black

Question Help! artanium inks - blacks don't come out black

Hi guys,
I use artanium inks & photoshop elements v4. My problem is my blacks dont come out black enough on t shirts. they are a dark brown. other cols also come out lighter than they should. I use TexprintXP paper.

any tips

I would check the color profile to make sure all is adjusted correctly..... JB

Ditto...this is a profile issue 9 times out of 10. Check with your ink supplier, they may have another profile they can forward you or they may be able to assist you in tweaking your workflow.

Thanks guys but i have checked my settings. All seems ok.
Will contact ink supplier and see what happens.

are you using the artainium profiles? they are specific to that ink. when i want 'true' black i use 0,0,0 RGB

Also make sure you are pressing long enough, black is the last color to sublimate and shows up bad if not enough time is used.

That being said.... Artainium blacks are not a true black. I know the person that started Tropical Graphics (were Artainium started) and we had many talks about the black. I finally got him to agree with me that his blacks were not really, really black.

The inks are good enough that 95% of people see it as black but I am in that 5% that felt it was a ways off of black. I now use TOG inks and their black is much deeper and darker.

Another thing with cloth is you might try a "high release" paper if you are not already using one. Cloth soaks up more dye than something like a tile or metal so the more that leaves the paper the better.

I increased my pressing time between 10 & 15 secs & that did the trick.
