Smile Dye Sub on Corian

Hello,

I want to know If anyone has ever sublimated in solidsurface White Corian , or any other solidsurface light Corian colors? I would like to know If it is possible. I found a piece of 1/4" white Corian and I want to use It for a plaque. If so what was the temp, pressure, and dwell time you used?

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

We played with 1/2" Corian product for some time but never did get consistantly acceptable results. Prep work was a challenge without the right tools. The learning curve for this was way too expensive...Corian is not cheap!

Sand/buff the Corian to your desired finish before imaging. We had best results preheating the unfinished side first and then flipping it over to press the transfer on the finished side. After it is cool, go back and buff again. It seems like times were three minutes and two minutes @ about 375°F.

I do have literature from DuPont regarding sublimating their Corian product. I can try to find it if you like.

That sounds great, If you can find the info. I just found a few 4'X8' sheets of white corian, and thought about putting images on it. I don't have a corian sander, so I'd like to put images on the unfinished surface, If that would work.

Keep in touch,
Jim
