I have recently found that my wholesaler is offering "special" papers to dyesub to be printed on black tees. Does anyone know if this works well or have any experience with it?


Also, I have always wanted to know what would happen if you printed and pressed a regular print on a black tshirt with dyesub what would happen. Is it hard to see, does anything appear, or does it just look extremely faded.

Part 1: I would love to learn more about this paper, but would be very skeptical of it working.

Part 2: You can dye sub to black shirts, but don't expect to see much. The shirt colors absorb the colors of the ink and it looks very dark. Not worth selling in my opinion.

Saying this, you would need to drop a white base (either ink or paper base) for you to print colors on black items. Even if Step #1 does this, it is almost impossible for it to do it with no hand and getting the same longevity that you get out of dye sub.

I am a Ripley's person. Show us pictures of your results. If it works, it will be great for the industry. I just know that several companies have been trying to do this and no one can do this to date. Don't let the marketing angle get you hooked. Ask for free samples. And if it works, let us know! Ya man no problem. I will not only try the sub on black (since I have never seen it before, just everyone says to not do it ((I am going for a mesh between hiphop and alternative rock, so faded and loss of color will be to my advantage)) and I will try to order some of the "special paper") and post put some pics

The DyeSub paper for darks is basically just like the opaque inkjet transfers with a polyester coating. You are DyeSubbing the white transfer, not the shirt fibers as with true DyeSub. I don't understand why anybody would want to waste expensive DyeSub ink on something that could be done with an inkjet transfer for darks. The only benefit I can think of is that the colors might not fade as much. But the thick hand will be there just like an inkjet transfer.
