Question Sublimation Help

I've read a lot of the threads here so I wouldn't duplicate and make sure I don't ask a dumb question. Couldn't find the answer and hope it's not a dumb question.

I already do screen printing and would like to add sublimation to my list of busy things to try. I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 and saw on bestblanks that I could buy the ink there. My question is, is it wise to purchase the ink and run it in this printer? Someone said this printer would work. Also, is there any tutorials in regards to printing sublimation?

Thank you for your help it is greatly appreciated.

I recommend the Ricoh printers. Improvements with thw inks
and printers make it a better value and more reliable.

Here is my article written for the Sublimation Almanac:

Epson is the way to go, if you are interested in the process go to Sublimation Explained If the link is funny it's listed here Sublimation | Leading Australian Supplier Explains All

I have to agree with David...Ricoh GX7000 is much better than the Epson..in my opinion..I have been doing sublimation for over 9 years and I have used sublimation inks in Epson models C80, C84, C86, C88, 1280 and 1400...There was always the issue of clogging...not every day or every week..buy just when you don't need it!...and head cleaning just wastes inks and the translates into $$....I have had the GX7000 since it was introduced and I have not had one single clogging issue...even after leaving it idle while I was gone on vacation for 2 weeks!

I agree too. The Ricohs are better. If you buy the 1400 inks, it is only economical if use bulk inks system which is messy and troublesome. The ricoh sublimation cartrdiges are quite economical compared to the Epson 1400 sublimation cartridges.

But the Epson 1400 will be able to print more colors as it is a six color printer compared to a 4 color printer.
