Most likely....it is a heat fired decal of some kind.

OK .I know im new at this but that much I got. I guess my question is, what did they use to put pressure on it like they use a cup press or a wrap to put pressure on the outside of the cup?

Decals are fired in a kiln. You don't need to put pressure. The heat permanently adheres the decal to the substrate. There is more detail to the process but that is the basic principal.

if it was kiln fired, there is no pressure..you only need the pressure for sublimation..either mug press or wrap, but for kiln fired, pad printed no pressure used. Kiln fired is what is commonly used in pottery...in the case of this mug, it was not sublimated or pad printed...or so I believe

OK guys Next dumb question!!!!
I have been told, that a good starter printer to use for Sub, is the Ricoh GX5050N because it has some special ink jets or sprayers...and the same with the epson printers but the Ricoh is better as the ink it uses is better and goes farther.
I have axcess to a Savin GX5050N printer and I believe Savin owns Ricoh or the other way around, so are these two printers the same or is it just the Ricoh that is the only one that has these special enk jets?

Better....is a perspective word.

We use large format printers....they work marvelous and work great for us as well as our clients. We produce a ton of large-format products as well as high quantity transfers. Small format isn't used in our infrastructure.

If you are doing smaller products, Ricoh may be a good fit for you. You will have to wait for someone who produces smaller sized products to give you a more hands-on review.

Ricoh GX5050 is a good choice...only has 4 colors, CYMK...which is all you need for sublimation and it iseven faster than the GX7000.

I am not sure about the Savin 5050...may or may not take the gel ink that you have buy separately...You can buy the gel ink from Conde. I would check with Conde...but if there is a doubt I would stay with the Ricoh brand

I think you should give up oh placing your logo inside a mug...this is not for beginners nor will it be cheap.. again...I would check Numo Manufacturing

Is sublimation better to use for coffee house mugs going through a commercial dishwasher rather than another way to apply the logo? If not, what is the best way to apply a graphic to a mug?

This should look just fine sublimated on a white mug. Just some advise, you attached on to an older existing post of a different subject. You should start a new post to ask a question.
