Default Protecting Shirts in heat press

I have some vapor apparel tshirts that I would like to print on. At the moment I have the shirts, sub paper and heat press.. Once I have my image printed and placed on the shirt in the press, is there anything I should be putting over the transfer paper to stop the shirt burning or discolouring from the press?

I have done a few shirts before but always seem to get a "square" shape the size of the bottom plate on the shirt.

Also can anyone advise the ideal temp and time for the Vapor shirts?

Hi Mike,

A Teflon sheet or just a sheet of butchers' paper is a popular way to protect the shirts.

Usual temp. for dye sublimation is around 400 F or 200C. Pressure should be light, time - about 45-60 sec.

There are quite a few tips on avoiding press lines in previous threads - you may want to do a search in dye-sub section. Here are some:

Check your pressure - it should be light.
Use an insert (like Vapor foam pillows) in between the layers of the shirt to elevate printable area.
Make sure the transfer paper over-hangs the insert - it will eliminate paper lines

Lint roller is a very useful tool to have - to clean the printable area from any specks of threads, dust and other contamination.

Good luck

I did my first dye sub transfer on vapor apparel the other day and it looked great until I picked the shirt up and turned it around. The ink bled through to the back of the shirt so make sure you place an insert inside the shirt to prevent this. Other than that I think following the tips in the above post will give great results.
