I just had the same issue with my GX505N. My blue skies were showing nasty banding. After a couple head cleanings, it got much better. However, I was having to do this every time the printer sat idle for at least 3 days. I contacted Sawgrass and they instructed me to perform head alignments and paper feed alignments. In the meantime, I had to replace the yellow cartridge. I haven't had a problem since and haven't had to do any head cleanings. Why it made a difference' I have no idea. There is still a lot of the old ink still in the line.

If you're 100% sure it's the magenta, do a couple more head cleanings on just the magenta.

Thanks, David from Conde told me to do that and it worked fine. I have let it sit for a week or more with no issues and all of a sudden in the middle of a 16 mug order it started to band?

Other than that, I like the job it does. However, I think it drinks more ink than it should. I do know, head cleanings do use a little ink. Also, I originally shut it off after every use and was told that it will use more ink on start up that way. Time will tell.

This is my first. The reason I went with the Ricoh is because of all the issues I've read about with the cis system and the cost per ml is supposed to less with the Ricohs than the Epsons, when using cartridges.
