Default Pre-coating a white shirt.

Has anyone tried pre-coating a white shirt? I have pre-coat for white shirts when I printed the shirt it came out great, when I washed it the color faded a bit. I pressed it for 1 minute at 350 degrees. Any suggestions to keep the color looking good after it is washed would be great.

There is a light color pretreatment called fast color that works really great. I use it and it makes the colors a bit brighter, with much better washability. I get mine from Harry at equipment zone.

When I use it, I spray the pretreatment, dry in press for 10 seconds with uncoated parchment paper, then remove paper and cure another 10 seconds. What resolution are you printing at? If it is above 720 x720, I would cure for 90 seconds.

Would pretreating a white shirt preclude a second with the DTG printer?

You can get yellow stains, which are scorching stains, from heating for to long or applying to much. You also want to wash with the same color of shirts or the fastcolor will absorb the dye from the other shirt.

Curing FastColor on your shirt should only take 5 to 10 seconds at 330 degrees.

Curing prints on FastColor shirts should only be about a 30 seconds to 1 minute process at 330 degrees.

No I have never had any staining with it. When I spray it, I only spray it very lightly, and then press at 330 degrees for 10 seconds with uncoated parchment paper, and then another 10 seconds without the paper. How much are you spraying on, and how long are you drying it for?

Can I use my Dupont pre-treatment for light garment instead of fastcolor for pre-treatment a white shirt?

Don't know which Dupont pretreatment you have. The older formula would turn yellow on the shirt with exposure to sunlight. But they have come out with a new formula a few months back that can be used on all colors of shirts. Ask your supplier what formula they are selling you or test it. Apply some to a white shirt and leave it out in the sun for a day to see if it turns yellow.

Pretreatment is a clear coat treatment that makes the shirt less absorbent and more able to take the color...

Does any shirt treated with FastColor always pick up dyes from other clothes in the wash or is it a first wash thing?
