Default Manually fushing through dampers - best way?

I'm halfway through flushing our HM1 with cleaning solution. Probably going to have to repeat this on Monday as I'm happier, but not totally satisfied with the results.

As we've lost a white channel, I thought I'd take a look at the dampers. Although I've done at least ten ink charges with cleaning solution, there's still a deal of white ink in the dampers (which is fluid and moving if I tip the dampers from side to side). However, I'm wary of applying any suction with a syringe to the dampers in case I break the plastic. (I know they're not an expensive part, but I don't have any spares at the moment!)

Is it ok to push liquid through a damper from the top nozzle out (as it would when it's operating) to force some cleaning solution through it? I need to make sure they're all working but I can't afford to break one through trial and error!

Anybody done this before and/or found a best way of doing it?

TIA

You should stick your syringe tip through the hole in the bottom of the damper and try and slowly suck out the ink. You should not try and push ink through the damper with the syringe as you probably will damage the damper then.

Cheers for the advice. Think we have one damper that's on its way out anyway, time to see if I can revive it...

Also, damper-related - when replacing the dampers, that little foam pad which holds the dampers up and stops them 'wilting' once in place... Is it just fine sitting there at a gentle angle? I've taken the dampers out once and replaced them and everything feels seated properly, nice and tightly, just wondering if the foam pad should be at a slight incline or whether it should be flat inside the print head compartment.
