I got home with my HM1 Kiosk last night, plugged it in and 4 of the ink lights are on solid. I tried turning it off and unplugging it for a while but that did not fix the problem. When I go to my RIP software properties it says I am out of the first 4 which we don't even use. Does anyone know what I can do. Since it is the weekend there is no support.
Do you have enough ink in your bottles? If you don't the machine think its out of ink and will light up those lights. Press ink button leave for 30 seconds, press ink button again to return head to home position. Also have you checked your waste ink bottle, make sure its not full.
Try turning the printer off and disconnect the main power supply for 3-5 minutes. That might reset the ink chips
Are all the lights flashing quickly or slowly?
The lights are solid and I already tried unplugging them for that long to reset. Very frustrated at this point. The 4 lights lite up are not the main CMYK, they are the 4 light CMYK that we dont even have?!?! I don't understand why it is even recognizing them when they don't exist.
Actually you are using the "light" CMYK colors for the white ink. The 4 lights you are referring to are for the 4 white ink channels. You may need to put a new set of ink chips in for those slots as they may be past their reset limits.
I just left Fort Worth on Friday for training.....Everything worked fine. There is no way I am past their reset limits. It HAS to be something else....any thoughts? The printer hasn't really even been used yet
I would shut off the printer. Unplug the electric cord. Unplug the usb cord from your computer. Open the cover and pull out and then reseat the ink chips to make sure they are seated properly. Plug the printer back in but leave the computer disconnected from the printer. Turn it on and see what happens.
Sorry it took so long for me to see this, I could have probably helped and maybe still can if you have not fixed it yet. It sounds like you need to go into your maintenance program and reset your chips. To do this, you need to go into our maintenance program and click on waste ink counter reset, then onces you do this click on initialize. After this turn your machine off and then on again so that it takes effect. Let me know if this works
With the HM1 it does not work the same as the kiosk of resetting them directly from the machine and then restarting. You have to do it through the maintenance program.

That won't work. I did try that too. However, I got ahold of Mesa today and they are overnighting me a new ink chip. They are pretty sure that it must have got damaged in transport since it has only printed about 25 prints. We will see.

Hi Bobbie Lee
Can you please provide alittle more detail on how to reset the ink counter thru the maintenance program. I have a Kiosk and my #6 ink light is solid. I do have one of the early kiosks (about 3 1/2 years old) and this is the 1st time I have encountered this problem.
When I go into the printer settings and click on the maintenence tab, the top option (the status monitor option) doesnt allow me to "click thru" and perform any tasks.
Hmm On the Hm1 it has a seperate maintenance program that works with a dongle. I dont think the maintenance tab on the printer settings is the same thing. If you have a light on only one chip, and resetting does not reset that chip, it might need replacing. I would also try taking the chip out and use a pencil eraser to clean the connection prongs on the chip as it might just be dirty connections. If that does not work though it sounds like you might need a new ink chip.
On the HM1 the chips are different, they have to be replaced every so many mil. of ink that the machine uses, where as I believe the chips on the kiosk are totally resettable all the time. The HM1 chips are not made that way, they have to be replaced after being reset so many times, usually around 4 times. So if you do have to buy a new chip on your #6 chip, make sure to get the kiosk chip and not the HM1 chip, as they are different.
