Hi,
We just purchased our first DTG printer. It is a Kiosk (first one)and we purchased it used. I put new print head, print cable, dampers, lines, and capping station. Everything seems to be working...Here are my problems.....
One....is there supposed to be a pool of ink on the capping station even when the print head is stationed over it (this does not seem right to me)...2nd question, how do I get Rip Pro to work. I have all the settings how they should be and when I send a file to the DTG printer/White ink nothing happens...nothing is loading into the Rip Pro...I can print the file by selecting the Epson 2200 driver and if I send it through the power rip output que....but nothing seems to be going into the rips program....the manual is very hard to follow and although I was told there was a training video that came with the machine I dont have one, so I trying to learn as I go (as I have always done with all my machines and programs). Any help would be great.
You may want to contact the local DTG distributor to see about getting a support/training contract. That will give you phone/email support and training so that you are up and running quicker and get the help you are going to need to ramp up with your DTG.
I would check the tubes underneath your capping station that go to the waste ink bottle. They may be loose or clogged. This would cause pooling in your capping station.
As far as the rip pro, have you checked all of your ports to make sure they are all correct? I will go look on mine and post what the ports should be. What version of rip pro are you using? Also have you checked to make sure your queeu is empty of previous jobs? If I were you I would do a complete clean reinstall and see if you can get it to work. The only setting you have to change on the rip pro while installing is selecting what machine you have, and where it is from such as east or west. The rest the rip pro should do on its own, installing where it needs to be and assigning the correct ports. Let me know if any of this is helpful

Thanks Bobbie Lee I will check the tubes. I am using Version 3. I went back in and used the disk to do a reinstall but still didn't help. If I take it off and reinstall will I be able to use the same validation code, as I have used it once and the prevoius owner used it once and I don't want to use my last one! Thanks for your help.
Here is a great thread where Mark/Daguide explains how to set up the rip, and how to make sure you keep your validations Not using white anymore on Kiosk. I would also set up an account on the dtg america forums, as there is a ton of info on the rip there as well. You have to call mesa and request an invitation code to sign up there, but there is alot of helpful information there as well.
I think though that thread will help you as far as your rip, because mark posted a link to a video explaining how all the ports should be, as well as one on validation.
As far as your waste lines, you will need to take off the right side cover to access them. This is a common problem of capping stations that are not draining, of them being clogged

I tried putting the cleaning in the cap station and it sucks it right down...any other thoughts? When the head is not on the station it sit at a little bit of a tilt right? and when the print head is on top of it it sits upright and flush with the head...just trying to make sur I put it in right, but I cannot see how I could not as the three prongs in the front are sitting in their holes and the part where the screw fit in sat in the right spot to put the screws in...????? Everyones help has been so great, hopfully I will be up and printing soon...I have the ndual chromoblast/sub Epson 4800 and I know these printers can be tricky!
No did not see it printing...bought used to stay away from large bills, really can't afford to have a tech out since they would probably come from Chicago and since thats 100 miles away you got to pay for that! I have always done pretty well with getting machines to work and my partner is also pretty handy, we should be able to figure it out!
Thanks
first of all you need to go to equipment zone they have a upgrade that will work ....my kiosk was down for two years ...i switch the dampers out with the upgrade from equipment zone and i am up and running...problems was i brought the rip software 2 years ago and i cant find the codes because i revamp my computer now i am unable to b print black shirts and swf will not help
i am unable to b print black shirts and swf will not help
The software manufacturer provides 3 validations with the purchase of your RIP, if you use all of them without properly removing the validations, you will need to purchase a reset of the validations ($150 for three validations for the original owner of the software license). If you have your product code - tech support can get it reset for you. If you do not have your product code, you can contact your account manager and he can get you a copy of your original invoice that will also have the product code (as should your packing list that came with the machine originally).
We are very willing to help our customers. Your statement that you lost your codes with the revamp of your computer is inaccurate/misleading. The product code for your RIP software are on the original CD packet you recieved with your printer and you can also obtain it via the process I indicate above. As the software you have is no longer produced (we have been on Version 4 for a year now) you may want to consider paying a little more and getting the V.04 upgrade along with the 3 new validations.
If you would like to email or pm me with your customer information I will verify your product code (assuming you purchased the machine from SWF East) and arrange with you for a reset of your validations or for a V.04 upgrade as you choose.
In regards to the earlier portion of this thread. Buying a machine used because you cannot afford the new or refurbished machine from a distributor who provides service, support and training can be a recipe for failure. Most used machines that are sold on the market today are sold because they are not being used which generally means that they are going to need a lot of work to get up and running - typically a minimum of $500, but I have seen it climb to $2000 and you still won't get training or support.
If you cannot justify an additional couple thousand dollars when you buy a used machine from an individual I would advise against buying it. Better to save your maney and buy a machne that is warrantied and supported. JMHO
