How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
I bought my HM1 used, and the previous owner put the cleaning solution (or whichever solution is supposed to be in there for shipment)
I got all of my stuff installed and I want to put the inks in and try printing.. However, I dont have the slightest clue on how to get the solutions out of the lines? help please.
And, any advice for putting inks it / getting ready for first print.
Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
Hi..
Just take the bottles of solution off, and then hit Ink Fill.. you should see the solution flush out and air bubbles come through. Make sure to wipe off the end of the tubes so that none of the solution gets into your new ink.. once wiped clean and the solution through the tubes, follow the steps for clamping each ink color and using Ink Fill until they are all filled.. run a good 10 head cleanings using the Ink button and your done. =D
Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
The fastest and best way on the HM1 to get the ink into the lines is using the maintenance program. Open your maintenance program and go to ink charge, use that button to run the ink through the lines. It usually will take 3 to 4 ink charges to get it through there. Its much faster then using the head clean button that is on the printer and easier on your printer, as it moves much more ink at a time. Hope this helps

Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
It will go into your waste ink bottle on the right side of your machine
There on the ride side panel of your machine you will see a blue cover with a little slit in it. lift that cover off and you will have access to your waste in bottle. Make sure to always keep an eye on the level of the waste ink container, as you do not want it to back up into the printhead. Mine needs to be emptied like every 3 to 4 days depending on how much I am printing. You also want to keep track of your spit station, which is the thing over on the left inside the printer that has a sponge on it. Check that about once a week to make sure it is not full. You will need to empty that container with a syringe, as it is not removable like the waste ink tank.
Haha I figured out the spit station on my own when first getting my machine, as I could not figure out why my machine was leaking ink

Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
Okay, so I actually meant flusing solution..
I still dont know what you're talking about "solution bottles"? I took a picture so you guys can see what i'm looking at.. lol I'm sure its right in front of me, but i'm super intimidated by this thing.. I freak out every time it makes a noise lol
Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
The best way to see how to do it, is to go to SWF East ---> Digital Printing--->Support--->scroll down to Kiosk training (under DTG support) and there are videos that you can download.
It will show a video with step by step instructions to cleaning out the flushing solution and refilling your inks. Im not familiar with wims, but the site i referenced will show you everything you need to know!
You dont have to register or even subscribe to see anything that i just referenced either.
Good Luck Sweetie! And let me know if you need anything else.
Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
Hi Stephanie
See your bottles that have your solution? Well normally you will have extras for flushing, and then the ones you use for your ink, basically two sets. If you dont that is ok You can see the color on the bottles from what color ink was in them. Just simply removed the solution from each bottle and refill them with the color of ink that has been in each bottle. On the large bottle on your wims that is the white ink container. If I were you since you have not used the machine yet, just do your CMYK bottles first and learn to print cmyk first. Once you know how to print, then you can go and add your white ink. You can leave your white ink bottle with solution in it and still print cmyk with no problem
Once you have filled your bottles with ink, in each of the four bottles, open your maintenance program on your computer, and do ink charges until you are getting colored ink into your waste bottle. If you need anymore help, feel free to ask and I can talk you through it You do not need to do anything else as far as changing anything, just fill up your bottles, do ink charges through the program, and learn to print once you get a good nozzle check

As far as the settings for the Wims system, I am not sure of those but Mabye Don Copeland from SWF east will chime in and let us know the best settings. I myself have the regular agitation system on my machine, so not sure of the wims settings.

Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
I'm going to owe the two of you lunch. lol
So, I've emptied out the solution in the waste ink bottle and in the ink bottles, should I rinse them out with anything before i put ink in?
I was actually kind of thinking about adding cleaning solution into it really fast before I add the ink and run that through.. the machine has been idle for a little over a month (with the solutions in it) so i'm not sure if thats a good idea or not? votes? lol
Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
I would first do a couple of ink charges with distilled water, which you can buy at the grocery store in gallon bottles, and then add your ink. That way with the distilled water, it will flush out the solution and also let you see that all of your lines are flowing.
A good idea for the future also, is to buy one of each color in the 55 milliliter bottles so that you will have a extra set, that you can just change out when you want to do a flush. That is what I do

Re: How do I get the cleaning solution out of the lines?
I'm doing it with the cleaning solution now and I'm going to pick some of it up when I go get dinner.. I dont think the boyfriend will appreciate me taking his distilled water for the racecars lol
And of course, I thought I was computer - problem - free and I thought wrong.
I went to open the maintenence program from the computer to do the ink charges from here, but it wouldnt open until I put the CD in, and it doesnt appear to be communicating with the computer..
