Unhappy ink fading

I am having problems with dark shirts fading ink colors after a few washes. They even crack and peel after a couple of months and can be scratched off. I have contacted the manufacutre and they do not have an answer for me after they too were experiencing the same problem as me. They suggested I talk to their chemist, but why is that up to me? Any ideas on what I should do now?

ahh,, ok.. We purchased our printer from SWF, but we order all of ink from coleman and co.
They are pretty quick with sending.. The prices on ink is pretty much the same, and follows the same standards.. we purchase dtg brand,, VO2 ink and we have never had an issue. Even after a dozen washes the ink still looks almost new.. =)

We don't have a problem unless we lay down a full layer of white underbase. They could not find the answer either. But when 3 customers have brought back their shirts after 3 months, I can't justify this machine. It is too costly. I now have to pay a screen printer to do these shirts.

What are your steps for pretreating? I know that when you use too much pre-treatment it will crack and fade and have multiple issues.. also make sure that what you are printing on is no less than 80/20 cotton/poly blend. Any more of a shirt blend will make you have issues holding ink. Another big thing to look out for is whether or not the shirts have been stain guarded.. if there is a stain guard, that as well will add to a pre-treating issue.
We use a HVLP gun and shoot appr. 12 inches away with light mist across and down. Use a roller to press down the fibers and get the treatment into the fibers. Then for best results press for about 20 seconds at 330 degrees.

It sounds like you may be spraying too much pretreatment on your garments or you may not be heat setting it sufficiently. The V02 inks are Dupont ink. The recommended heat press time for Dupont inks for white ink printed garments is 2 1/2 to 3 minutes.
