Anybody have a tricks or hints on getting a good quality print from a black hoodie. Printing red & white, hoping to get them to come out looking decent
Make sure the hoodie is at least 80% cotton on the face and preferably 100% cotton. Also. you may need to use the Youth platen if the hoodies has a pocket.
Hi,,
We print on black hoodies all the time, and Ive found these few things that make the print come out the best:
Vivid Darker-makes the saturation more vibrant (as opposed to photo normal)
you can also set the white ink as 1440 if you really want a stronger base, but it does cost more
the hoodies we use at best are 80 cotton/20 poly
and when we load the hoodies we unzip them and wrap tightly so that the bed can be raised as high as possible. Our reds always look great.. also in the designing stage, adding a little bit of magenta can make the red stand out a bit more.. I hope this helps =)
Thanks AnnMarie I did try the vivid setting, and that did help some. Also how do you add more magenta to the setting? Do you have the formula for rgb for this? I have also tried the 1440 setting and it seems to add to much white and then it bleeds.
It really depends on how many shirts you are needing to print.. If its only a few,, (and this is a pain in the butt..lol) We have taken a hair dryer when the bed is out and used it for 5-10 seconds after the white layer has printed, and then send it through for the color layer.. but if its not worth the trouble then go back to 720..
As for the magenta it depends on what program you are working in.. if you are photoshop you can select the red area of the image and then click on the colored square on the far left.. a screen will pop up with all of the color settings.. at the far right of the screen you will see the "M" and a percentage rate that you can just change to a higher setting..
Another way is to go into your rip pro before you send the image through, and select Utilities--> Printer and ink configuration--> ink configuration.. and make sure that the magenta is set on 100%.. If it already is you can play with the other colors, like bring down the "Y" a few notches to take out the orange or pink shade printing into your image.. I hope this helps
I am using Adobe photoshop sometimes and I also have corel x3. As far as my rip program its the dtg rip v04. I will have to look at the utilites settings and see if I can adjust them. What temp do you press them for and how long. I have my heat press set at 330 and for 2 minutes.
We set our press at 323 and press twice for 1 min and 30 sec. each. I know its like watching grass grow waiting..lol but we print for retail, and business to business and we use ALOT of red in our designs.. in fact our main logo design is a pair of red angel wings...
Our normal process is when first selecting print with preview, make sure "manage with photoshop colors" and "perceptual" are selected.. then when going under advanced options.. we use
