I am getting a BIG Rainbow when printing. Talked with Bill at SWF and he sent me a video on how to fix the problem. I watched it and cleaned the whole machine like it said. It printed two shirts great then went back to giving me small rainbows, so I cleaned it again, same thing happened except now it gives me large rainbows. I must be doing something wrong either that or my machine loves me so much it just wants to show it by giveing me rainbows. Any help ASAP will be deeply apreceated.
Rainbows... could be banding? Keep your humidity higher(how high, depends on elevation and temp. try above 40%) If you can get a good nozzle check, and get banding, make sure that your ink is flowing( no clogging in lines) and the air holes in bottles are clear and the level of the bottles is propper. Keep your capping station/wiper clean and flushed.

Joy,
Are the lines of the rainbow going horizontal or vertical? If vertical, your encoding strip may still be dirty or scratched. If it is clean, take some canned air and blow out where the strip goes into the head/carrage. If none of these.... a picture would be great.

I just wanted to let you know that I had the same problem with the rainbow effect.. cleaned just like new and it would still do it. We cleaned the encoder strip numerous times, but the rainbow effect kept coming back. We finally did something to fix it.. We took the gears out where the belt goes around and using a toothpick and Q-tips, completely cleared them of all the gunk.. took about 2 hours, but the rainbow effect finally disappeared. I hope this helps.. If you need it explained any better you are free to give us a call at 513-344-2160.. good luck!
