This seems to be a continuation of my bands of color issue. I've had this happen each day with white bases. Each day I end up doing a repair of RIP Pro and the issue disappears, only to reappear the next day.
I have automatic updates turned off on this computer. This is only my computer and nobody is allowed to do anything on it. I can't figure out how RIP Pro is corrupting overnight, every night.
Any thoughts? I seriously cringe any time someone wants a dark colored t-shirt printed because it's an ongoing fight with the machine and now the software...
Yes, I did a thorough cleaning last week when this was happening. At the time it seemed like it was a corrupted file, but now it's happening every morning to all my stuff.
The last couple times, running a repair on RIP Pro put an end to the issue. This morning it didn't.
Also cleaned and re-oiled the bar that the carriage runs on.
I would go one step farther than just running a repair and uninstall the software, remove the drivers and delete the folders on the C:\Drive (except the hidden validation folder). Then restart the computer and reinstall the software.
The other thing to consider is what other software do you have running on this computer (i.e. anti-virus, any permission based software,...) that might be doing something to the system32 folder - which RIP Pro uses.
Have you tired using a different computer to run the printer with? It could be a Windows or computer issue. The version of your RIP is an older one and the problem you are describing is not a known problem.
Alright, we get computer support from a local person who I am waiting on her return call. I will ask her about the 32 thing?
Today it happened again. Tried the repair, no luck. Uninstalled and removed files, and reinstalled - fixed the issue. Printed a white print on a dark shirt - no problem. Printed another one using 'production run' - no problem.
Printed a third one and the bands of color showed up again. I feel like I am way in over my head. Tried calling the DTG RIP Pro 800 number - turns out it's Mesa, our printer guys. Talk to the technician, he tells me it's a computer problem and he can't help me...
If someone were to ask me 'should I invest in an HM-1 with white ink' I would say, you may do better taking that money and burying it in a hole. At least you can dig it up in a year and get it back, and you won't have a daily headache until you do...
You have the last (latest) revision of version 3 which was replaced by Version 4 about 10 months ago. If you are running a productin run, that is a function of the Windows spooler, all it does is resend the data "x" number of times. Does the same thing happen if you simply re-print the job from your application?
Just wanted to update this. Spent the morning on the phone with a VERY nice guy from Mesa, who walked me through trouble-shooting the whole thing. I am very happy to say that the problem (which probably began with a Microsoft update, he says) is now resolved. On the way, I replaced my USB cable, updated my Epson drivers, and he even gave me info on how to retrieve my validation info. YAY! I can print! Now I have ten cases of shirts staring at me....
Thank you all for the help - on the whole, you were all on the right track, I just wasn't getting the reinstall job done correctly. If I were smarter, who knows how fast this might have gone!! :P

Reason: resolved
Both Don and Mark pointed out two things to do if a software issue is suspected. What you are trying to do with any troubleshooting is eliminate the various possibilities till you are left with the one actually causing the problem. On something like this I would suggest possibly doing both suggested things right away. Get another computer (even if you need to borrow one for a few hours), install your Rip software on it, and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then you can concentrate on if its the software or your computer (mechanical or operating system).

Yay I am so glad you got the issue resolved. I have had to do a clean install a couple times of mine as well I do love Mesa though, they are sooo helpful
